| January-March 2011 | From January through March, David stage-directed a Princeton University thesis production of a new opera based on Nero entitled Nero Artifex. Composed by senior, Theo Popov, this chamber opera was one of the largest student productions during this academic year with a cast of ten singers, a chamber orchestra of twenty players, chorus and dancers. Over 50 Princeton University students participated in this production.
With funding from the Princeton Departments of Classics, Music and Theater, the production was fully-staged with costumes designed by Kerry Brodie '12, a set design conceived by David and Theo, and music direction by Tim Keeler '11 and Flannery Cunninham '13. The premiere performances of Nero Artifex were presented in Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall on the Princeton University Campus on March 24th and 25th.
